As part of its continued commitment to strengthening its academic community, WEUC seeks to appoint an accomplished and dynamic Associate Professor of Fashion Design to contribute to teaching, research, curriculum development, academic leadership, and industry engagement.
The Role
The Associate Professor of Fashion Design will provide academic leadership and contribute actively to the growth and development of the Fashion Design programme. The successful candidate will combine strong teaching expertise with an established research record and demonstrated academic leadership.
The role requires an individual who can inspire students, mentor emerging academics, advance research, and strengthen the relationship between fashion education, creative practice, and industry.
Academic and Professional Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements
Hold a PhD or equivalent terminal degree in Fashion Design or a closely related discipline from a recognised institution.
Have served for a minimum of three (3) years as a Senior Lecturer.
Demonstrate a strong and sustained record of teaching and academic leadership in higher education.
Have a minimum of ten (10) refereed publications since appointment as Lecturer.
Demonstrate an active and credible research profile with evidence of scholarly publications in relevant, reputable outlets.
Demonstrate substantial experience in curriculum development, academic supervision, and assessment.
Possess strong knowledge of contemporary fashion design theory, practice, technology, and industry developments.
Demonstrate the ability to supervise and mentor students and junior academics effectively.
Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse academic environment.
Membership of relevant professional or academic associations will be an advantage.
