About the Role
The Associate Professor will provide academic leadership in Finance and Accounting and contribute actively to teaching, research, student supervision, curriculum development, academic mentoring, and institutional service.
The successful candidate will bring a strong record of academic achievement, substantial teaching experience, and a sustained research and publication record. The candidate will also demonstrate the ability to connect financial and accounting theory with contemporary business and professional practice.
The role provides an opportunity to contribute to the growth of the Finance and Accounting programme while mentoring students and academic colleagues and strengthening WEUC’s research and academic profile.
Academic and Professional Requirements
Applicants must
Hold a PhD or equivalent terminal degree in Finance, Accounting, Finance and Accounting, or a closely related discipline from a recognised institution.
Have served as a Senior Lecturer for a minimum of three (3) years.
Demonstrate substantial teaching experience in a recognised higher education institution.
Have produced at least ten (10) refereed publications since appointment as Lecturer.
Demonstrate a sustained and credible research record in Finance, Accounting, or a relevant area of specialisation.
Demonstrate experience supervising undergraduate and/or postgraduate research.
Demonstrate experience in curriculum development, academic assessment, programme review, and quality assurance.
Demonstrate current knowledge of relevant financial, accounting, regulatory, technological, and professional developments.
Demonstrate the ability to mentor students and junior academic staff effectively.
Possess excellent written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a collaborative and multidisciplinary academic environment.
Professional membership or affiliation with a recognised accounting, finance, or related professional body will be an advantage.
