We are seeking a knowledgeable, passionate, and student-focused Part-Time Lecturer – Accounting to join our academic team in Ho.

Where You Come In

As a Part-Time Lecturer in Accounting , you will deliver engaging and academically rigorous instruction across relevant accounting courses.

You will plan and deliver lectures, facilitate discussions, assess student performance, provide constructive feedback, and support students in developing strong accounting knowledge and practical skills.

You will work with academic colleagues and the institution to maintain high teaching standards and contribute to an engaging learning environment.

This role is ideal for an accounting professional or academic who combines strong subject knowledge with excellent communication, teaching, and student-engagement skills.

Key Accountabilities

In this role, you will

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lectures in assigned accounting courses.

  • Develop lesson plans, teaching materials, presentations, exercises, and other learning resources.

  • Explain accounting concepts, principles, standards, and practices clearly and effectively.

  • Facilitate classroom discussions, tutorials, practical sessions, and other learning activities.

  • Connect accounting theories to real-world business and professional situations.

  • Encourage students to think critically, analyse financial information, and solve accounting problems.

  • Use appropriate teaching methods and learning technologies to enhance student engagement.

  • Prepare and administer assignments, quizzes, examinations, presentations, and other assessments.

  • Mark and grade student work fairly, accurately, and consistently.

  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to help students improve their academic performance.

  • Monitor student participation, progress, and learning outcomes.

  • Provide academic guidance and support to students when required.

  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, grades, and other academic information.

  • Participate in departmental meetings and academic activities as required.

  • Collaborate with other lecturers and academic staff to support effective programme delivery.

  • Review and update course content to reflect current accounting practices, standards, and industry developments.

  • Incorporate relevant case studies, practical exercises, and current business examples into teaching.

  • Support curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Maintain professional and ethical standards in teaching, assessment, and student interactions.

  • Participate in examination-related activities, including invigilation and moderation, when assigned.

  • Contribute to academic advising, student mentoring, and related activities where required.

  • Keep up to date with developments in accounting education, professional standards, and the wider accounting profession.

  • Participate in professional development and academic activities that strengthen teaching effectiveness.

  • Carry out other reasonable academic duties assigned by the institution.

Qualification & Experience

Candidates should hold a relevant academic qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution.

A Master’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field will be an advantage.

Professional accounting qualifications such as ACCA, ICA, CIMA, CPA, or an equivalent recognised professional qualification will also be an advantage.

Previous teaching or lecturing experience at the tertiary level will be highly valued.

Relevant professional experience in accounting, auditing, finance, taxation, financial reporting, management accounting, or a related field will be an advantage.

Candidates should demonstrate both strong subject-matter expertise and the ability to communicate accounting concepts effectively to students.
