The Opportunity

WEUC invites applications from qualified and experienced academics for a Professor-level position in Early Childhood Education .

The successful candidate will provide academic leadership in Early Childhood Education while contributing actively to teaching, research, student supervision, curriculum development, and the broader academic life of the College.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will

Deliver engaging, high-quality lectures, seminars, tutorials, and other academic activities.

Develop, review, and enhance courses and curricula in Early Childhood Education.

Integrate contemporary research, evidence-based practices, and emerging trends into teaching and learning.

Conduct original and impactful research in Early Childhood Education and related fields.

Publish research findings in reputable peer-reviewed journals and other scholarly outlets.

Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students and provide effective academic mentorship.

Mentor junior faculty members and contribute to their teaching and research development.

Develop research collaborations with universities, educational institutions, professional organisations, and relevant stakeholders.

Pursue opportunities for research grants, consultancy , partnerships, and community-based initiatives.

Participate actively in academic conferences, seminars, workshops, and professional development activities.

Contribute to departmental and institutional committees, quality assurance initiatives, and academic planning.

Support the continuous review and improvement of academic programmes.

Promote a welcoming, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment for students and colleagues.

Undertake other academic and administrative responsibilities assigned by the College.

Qualification Required & Experience

Candidates must

Possess an MPhil or MSc. in Early Childhood Education or a relevant area of specialization; a PhD is preferably required .

Have considerable teaching and research experience at a university or comparable higher education institution.

Have not less than 15 refereed publications since appointment as Lecturer .

Demonstrate a strong record of scholarly research and academic publication.

Demonstrate substantial experience in teaching and supervising students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Demonstrate strong academic leadership, communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills.

Show evidence of continuous professional development and engagement with current developments in Early Childhood Education.

Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute positively to the academic community.
