The Opportunity
WEUC invites applications from qualified and experienced academics for a Professor-level position in Fashion Design .
The successful candidate will provide academic leadership in Fashion Design while contributing actively to teaching, research, student supervision, curriculum development, creative practice, industry engagement, and the broader academic life of the College.
We welcome academics who combine scholarly expertise with creativity, innovation, technical knowledge, and a passion for developing the next generation of fashion designers and creative professionals.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will
Deliver engaging and high-quality lectures, studio sessions, seminars, practical classes, and other academic activities.
Develop, review, and enhance Fashion Design courses and curricula.
Integrate contemporary fashion trends, technologies, sustainable practices, cultural perspectives, and industry developments into teaching and learning.
Lead and conduct original research and creative scholarship in Fashion Design and related fields.
Publish research findings in reputable peer-reviewed journals and other scholarly outlets.
Develop and present creative works, design collections, exhibitions, and other forms of scholarly or professional output where appropriate.
Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students and provide effective academic mentorship.
Mentor junior faculty members and support their academic, creative, and professional development.
Develop research and creative collaborations with universities, fashion houses, designers, textile producers, creative organisations, and other relevant stakeholders.
Pursue opportunities for research grants, consultancy , creative partnerships, exhibitions, competitions, and industry engagement.
Participate actively in academic conferences, fashion events, exhibitions, seminars, workshops, and professional development activities.
Contribute to departmental and institutional committees, quality assurance initiatives, and academic planning.
Support the continuous review and improvement of Fashion Design programmes.
Promote an inclusive, creative, collaborative, and intellectually stimulating studio and learning environment.
Undertake other academic and administrative responsibilities assigned by the College.

Qualification Required & Experience
Candidates must
Possess an MPhil or MSc. in Fashion Design, Fashion, Textiles, or a relevant area of specialization; a PhD is preferably required .
Have considerable teaching and research experience at a university or comparable higher education institution.
Have not less than 15 refereed publications since appointment as Lecturer .
Demonstrate a strong record of scholarly research and academic publication.
Demonstrate substantial experience teaching and supervising students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Demonstrate strong academic leadership, communication, creative, interpersonal, research, and mentoring skills.
Show evidence of continuous professional development and engagement with current developments in Fashion Design and the creative industries.
Demonstrate the ability to connect academic theory with contemporary fashion design, technology, and industry practice.
Demonstrate evidence of creative or professional practice relevant to the field, where applicable.
Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute positively to the academic community.
